March 18, 2020

Here we go, everyone!  You can watch a video of our first digital Wednesday Evening Bible Study by clicking on the following link: https://fccdl.in/VziVQpY4Oc

Of course, we still want to stay as connected as possible! We'd love to hear your prayer requests and your thoughts and reflections on the material we are studying together. Feel free to visit our Church Facebook page to post comments on the lesson tonight (go to https://www.facebook.com/1stBaptistTularosa/), or you can ask to be added to our church-wide Group Text Message Chain. Just send a text message to Pastor John Mark at (214) 206-7853 to be added to our Group Text Chain, and then you will get all prayer requests or thoughts in real time!

Thanks everyone... looking forward to studying the Book of Hebrews with you tonight at our online gathering!

March 17, 2020

In light of yesterday's recommendation by the Trump Administration that we limit physical gatherings to 10 people or less, all church events (choir practice, Bible studies, and worship services) will not plan to meet in the church building until further notice. While I know this seems devastating, it is important for us to remember that we don't go to church, we are the church.

We still want to keep in regular contact with our church family to share prayer requests and personal life updates. We will use the FBC Tularosa Facebook page (visit https://www.facebook.com/1stBaptistTularosa/) for this. In addition, if you would like to be added to our church's Text Message Chain for updates and prayer requests, please let Pastor John Mark or Janelle know.

Also, we want to find ways to continue worshiping together as a church family even though we are temporarily unable to meet in person. It is important to remember that Christians have found creative ways to worship together from the beginning, whether it was meeting in the Roman Catacombs or in small house churches. Innovation is born out of challenge, and we are fortunate to live in an age where technology makes connection possible in many different ways. Please check our church website's home page and our church Facebook page for regular announcements as to where you can view Bible studies and Sunday worship services. If you do not have access to the internet or to Facebook, please contact Pastor John Mark and Janelle so a CD including a recording of the week's worship service can be delivered to your mailbox.

Finally, I would encourage you to prayerfully consider designating a special offering to help those who have lost their job or are hurting for resources due to this crisis. We will have a safe and secure online giving system up and running soon, and in the meantime feel free to drop tithes and offerings in the mail slot located on the street level elevator door. Those will be picked up regularly.

Thank you for your understanding and your flexibility. We will emerge from this season stronger and better equipped than ever before, and I encourage you to use this time to draw even closer as a church family. We may not be meeting in person, but we can all look for other ways to let our brothers and sisters in Christ know they are loved and appreciated!

March 13, 2020

These are extraordinary times, as people are being quarantined and becoming more and more afraid of contracting the
coronavirus as it spreads across the globe. We certainly need to be in fervent prayer for those dealing with this sickness
and also for the safety of our community and our church family - especially those who are elderly and/or dealing with
respiratory issues. Since our church gathering is relatively small (well under 100 people), we will continue to meet
together for regular worship services. However, we will make the following adjustments:

1.) We want to discourage members of the congregation from holding hands at the conclusion of the service. For the
next few weeks, we will sing our benediction song without joining hands.
2.) We will have hand sanitizer available in the church foyer for the use of our congregation.
3.) If anyone displays flu symptoms, we will ask that they please stay home until they are well. Remember that many
of our church members are older, and we want to watch out for one another! If you do end up becoming sick, please
let Pastor John Mark and Janelle know immediately so the church can deliver care package to your home. Also, you
can listen to our weekly worship services by using the following link: https://fbctularosa.com/sermons
4.) Finally, the March 15 Potluck Dinner has been canceled. Instead, we will briefly gather downstairs in order to
sing a few favorite songs, wish our snowbirds well, and take a to-go box of cake with us as we depart.

A fellow pastor told me something that I thought was very profound. He said that as we are confined to our homes
these next few weeks, God is giving us more time to pray. May we make good use of this time!
